Thank You, WordCamp Europe 2023

We were a first-time sponsor at WordCamp Europe this year. Little did we know what a rewarding experience that would be.

We came to Athens a week early for team building and some serious “us-time”. We visited the Acropolis, enjoyed the Greek hospitality. And we met with enthusiastic WordPress professionals, who never wavered in sharing knowledge that will help us to advance in what we do and how we market it. And we will pay it forward in future WordCamps!

Helpful Advice

Currently, we are beta-testing our new block theme. Once that’s through, we’re planning to take it to the WordPress repo. The courageous ones who have gone before us with that, already know what that entails. But we did not. And so, we asked some of the people in the community. Special thanks go to Adam Warner, Maja Loncar, Matt Cromwell, Predrag Zdravkovic, Jamie Marsland, Jamie Madden, Birgit Pauli-Haack, Hendrik Luehrsen, Bob Dunn, Robert Windisch, Jessica Lyschik, Ramon Fincken and Evan Herman. You have given us a great reality check and some rock-solid advice.

Going in Head First

Sandra, our COO, was “baptised” into the WordPress Community during Teatime with wonderful women like Anchen Le Roux, Tiffany Bridge, Anne Bovelett, Michelle Frechette and her lovely daughter Lydia, Maja Loncar, Piccia Neri, Simea Merki, Corinne Ulrich, Svilena Peneva and three of her lovely colleagues. It was such a warm and welcoming exchange, and we hope to stay in touch with all of you!

What? It’s not just a slogan?

In our web agency days, we have attended countless trade fairs and expansive expos where everyone competes fiercely for attention. It was Anne who reassured us that the WordPress Community fosters a different ethos, where everyone is rooting for each other’s success. She literally said: “Yes, many of us are competitors in the WordPress Eco-System. The difference though is that we all want for each other to succeed.” Honestly, we thought this was just a slogan. But it’s true. How beautiful, and how rewarding to be a part of that and to give back where we can.

Also, we want to thank all organisers of WordCamp Europe. Putting an event together with 2,500 attendees with a fully remote team of volunteers from all over the planet is a massive feat! Thank you for the smooth registration process at the venue, the slick booth with the big screen and thinking through the location and the catering so well. The food was magnificent, the Megaron staff was so welcoming and alert! With the buffets everywhere, not having to force ourselves into cramped schedules around lunch time to keep our booths manned was so great.

No Regrets

We are aware we speak in superlatives. But we have no choice. In all honesty, going to WordCamp as a sponsor for the first time is a big decision. We were questioning ourselves all the time. Do people like our product? Will we be able to convey the essence of what GREYD.SUITE can do for our users? Well, guess what. We have no regrets! We were blown away by the sheer number of people that came to visit our booth and were genuinely interested in a personal demo.

Finding Our Direction

Dear WordPress Community, your interactions and feedback have given us a clearer direction. While we initially presented ourselves as a block-based page builder when we started, two years ago, your interest revealed to us that our core value lies in being an agency growth tool. One that caters to ambitious entities aiming to evolve from managing single projects to handling enterprise-scale ventures with hundreds to thousands of sites. We initially built it for ourselves to serve our agency customers and took the gamble by moving away from WP Bakery to base this on native WordPress blocks and Gutenberg.

For readers who are less familiar with GREYD.SUITE: We offer a lean block-based multisite solution where you can manage content both globally AND locally, across tens to thousands of sites which you can effortlessly spin up within the Suite. Besides that, our suite offers a number of extended blocks, conditional elements, GDPR-compliant forms that can compete with the biggest form plugins currently available one the market, custom fields, Custom Post Types, and detailed User Permissions. Curious? Download our Suite and test it for free as long as you like. And while you’re at it, you can also book a personal demo!

The WordPress Community just rocks Thank you, all of you. You have given us more than you know. We are proud to be part of this amazing community and will do all we can to pay it forward in the future.

With love from Munich
Team GREYD.
